JB Journeys is organizing an exciting trip that combines natural history activities at The Lodge at Pico Bonito with a unique visit to the Copan Ruins timed so that participants are at the ruins for the end of the Maya long count calendar on December 21, 2012. Led by some of the world’s leading Maya archeologists, scholars, epigraphers, and archeoastronomers, the week long tour includes workshops, presenting the ancient Maya thought about 2012 as well as traditional Maya experiences, including a temazcal and fire ceremony.
Designed by Shannon Kring Buset, The Great Return, Winter Solstice in Honduras: Copan 2012 tour will begin on December 15, 2012 with a visit to the jungle and a stay at The Lodge at Pico Bonito. On December 18th, the group will travel to Copán Ruinas where they will spend 4 nights learning about the Maya culture before heading home on December 22, 2012.
